Medical Billing Specialist I: Full-time; On-site position in Norton, KS

 

Valley Hope Solutions Corporate Office, is looking for a special Medical Billing specialist I to join our team! Valley Hope Solutions, located in northwest Kansas, has provided residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment services since 1967.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:

Associate’s degree or some post high school college credits.
Six (6) months of experience in office or medical office setting.
Prior work experience in insurance billing.
COMPENSATION:

Starting salary range $15.00-$20.00/hr. (based on experience and education)

JOB SUMMARY:

Develops complete knowledge of benefits verification process and requirements related to authorizations.
Conducts benefit verifications on claims; utilizes templates to ensure benefits are verified based on Valley Hope Association/Valley Hope Solutions and clients’ requirements.
Completes benefits verification in a timely manner.
Demonstrates working knowledge and proficiency of processes for filing claims.
Maintains working knowledge of in-house and external billing system applications as well as knowledge of paper filing process of claims.
Files claims in a timely manner; verifies for completeness and accuracy of claim prior to filing.
Proactively manages claims case load; monitors and follows up on filed claims to ensure they are being processed accurately and timely until claim is fully adjudicated.
Utilizes electronic software tools to tracks and monitor status of filed claims throughout claims’ lifecycle.
Obtains key information on claims when making status calls; ensures relevant information is loaded in to billing systems with appropriate amount of detail on each claim.
Identifies, investigates, and works to resolve claims issues; engages team lead as needed for assistance.
Demonstrate understanding of returned claims and adjusts as needed.
Develops understanding and maintains working knowledge of how to read contract/reimbursement information including Explanation of Benefits and Verification of Benefits documents.
Demonstrates accurate payment validation process including review of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and payment information to ensure correct payment has been made.
Completes administrative tasks including transcription, scanning, uploading Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and answering phones as required.
Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPPA guidelines/regulations.
Adheres to Valley Hope’s philosophies, policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies.
Participates in all assigned staff meetings, staff development, and training as required.
Interacts and communicates with others (patients, co-workers, management, clients, and vendors) in a professional and tactful manner including treating them with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The following is intended to give and overview of the work environment of the position, but is not an exhaustive list.

Office setting with traditional hours; able to work overtime to the extent necessary. (This is NOT a remote position)
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours).
Able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
