Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Location: Stockton Field Office – Stockton, KS
Job Summary:
- Work with a diverse team of technical staff in our field offices and headquarters.
- Review proposed water projects and water right applications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Interpret well logs and research county hydrology and geology bulletins and publications.
- Utilize GIS computer software to prepare maps and analyze data.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and drawings to assist in decision making by KDA-DWR Chief Engineer.
- Assist water users and the public with the filing of application forms, water use data and other associated information.
- Communicate directly with water users and the public regarding their water right applications and regulatory requirements.
- Research historical DWR documents to examine water right development.
- Prepare notices and orders to ensure water right compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Professionally minded individuals with four years experience of environmental science, physical sciences, biological sciences, mathematics and/or engineering. Candidates may also qualify through a combination of relevant education, work experience, training or certification.
- Employee must possess excellent public speaking skills and generally be comfortable talking with a large group of people.
- Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Employee must have a valid Class C (or higher) Kansas driver’s license or equivalent license from another state. Employee is responsible to maintain an acceptable driving record to safely drive state vehicle and be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Knowledge of the KWAA and water rights preferred.
- Courses or work experience in hydraulics, hydrology, geology, natural resource management, agricultural, or earth science preferred.
Compensation:
- Annual Salary: $55,000 per year
- Hourly Pay: $26.44 per hour
