Are you a journeyman lineman looking to work in high voltage? Join Sunflower Electric’s Garden City transmission team!
Sunflower Electric Power Corporation is a transmission and generation utility in Kansas seeking a journeyman lineman. If you are passionate about high voltage line work, coaching apprentices, and working with a dynamic team, the journey line opening at our Garden City transmission facility might be for you. Opportunities:
Gain experience in an electric transmission utility to further your career in the industry.
Enjoy varied, intermittent travel in our service territory to work on construction and maintenance projects and with our member-owners.
Grow as a leader by providing direction, support, and mentorship to less experienced apprentices and interns.
Take advantage of the competitive wage and benefits package (including low health insurance premiums and a company-funded pension) Sunflower has to offer.
Help us in our mission to provide reliable, affordable energy to people in central and western Kansas.
Qualifications:
High school diploma and four years of line experience with increasingly responsible duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completion of a recognized Line Technician Apprenticeship Program is preferred.
Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL.
Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades Selection System (CAST) test.
For a complete list of qualifications, refer to the Journey Line Technician Responsibility Outline.
EEI Testing:
We administer selection tests for a variety of positions. The required tests have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor-owned electric utility companies. We strongly encourage candidates to review all the information, including the sample test brochures, and to use the available practice tests before taking the actual tests, available here:

https://secure.eei.org/eeitests/onlineproducts/Login.aspx.

The username and password are both sunflower. Practice tests provide sample questions and detailed discussions of the correct answers. It’s important to take the practice test as you would the actual one, with similar intensity and concentration. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer.

Note: EEI does not allow access to the actual tests. Testing sessions are held at various locations.

Sunflower Electric Power Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.
