Sunflower is the largest nonprofit agency in Central Kansas serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. Resources assist in making individuals as independent as possible in employment, and community living and participation. Offices in Great Bend, a regional-hub community of 16,000 with convenient access to larger metropolitan communities.
Organization founded in 1966; governed by Board of Directors representative of five-county service area. Board seeks leader with vision, management skills, and passion for the mission. Position has responsibilities for hiring/termination of 150 employees, $7.6 million budget, management of all services, planning, budget management, marketing, research and recommendations to Board. Qualifications for the Position:
Minimum qualifications: 1) Experience in a position with responsibility for budget management and direct employee supervision; 2) evidence of a stable employment history and career advancement;
3) excellent communication skills; and 4) an unblemished record of professional integrity.
Preferred qualifications: 1) Bachelors degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience;
2) five years in a management position in a nonprofit community agency that serves people with developmental disabilities; 3) previous personal or professional relationships with persons with intellectual disabilities; 4) experience with a nonprofit board of directors; 5) demonstrated skill and knowledge of nonprofit fund raising; and 6) record of community volunteerism.
