Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Job Duty Description:  This position works at the Norton Correctional Facility under the supervision of the Business Manager.  The incumbent in this position provides accounting support for the work group and performs duties associated with business office and accounting functions.
Performance Standards:  Assist with financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Coordinates with various internal & external entities regarding accounts payable and accounts receivable process. Checks for proper coding, funding, discounts, freight charges, contract prices, cancellations and back orders, tax identification numbers and obtains all proper signatures. Prepares completed invoices for payment after verification of charges. Completes necessary modules within the SMART system to correspond with Central Office and other required departments regarding the accounting transactions, including but not limited to, payment transactions & procurement cards. Maintains all vendor and payment voucher record files. Creates invoices and deposits funds associated with multiple accounts in QuickBooks. Monitors and reconciles associated invoices to ensure timely payments are received.  Enters Employee Travel Authorizations and Expense reports in SMART, and makes travel arrangements as needed.
Processes inmate releases, including tracking, filing & allocation of funds. Reconciles the cash change fund & Imprest fund. Assists with Business Office related Inmate Benefit Fund tasks, including but not limited to, data entry, dispersal and processing inmate requests.

Qualifications:
Education  / Licensing & Certification

Valid Driver License

Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience in accounting/auditing support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Requirements:    Prior experience with QuickBooks software and knowledge of governmental accounting and fiscal administration.

Must pass Pre-employment drug test and pre-employment physical.
