Overview
Position Summary & Responsibilities:
This is technical and public contact work in reporting the sheep and goat market activity for the Kansas Department of Agriculture. An employee in this class provides the agriculture industry and general public with accurate and unbiased market reports depicting the current supply, demand, prices and trends which affect trade in livestock markets.
Work involves preparing daily records of market activity utilizing official United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards. Initial training and supervision are provided by an experienced Agriculture Market Reporter. This position works at least Thursday each week covering livestock marketing in Colby. Occasional sale coverage on other days or in other livestock markets may be requested as needed. Day travel and occasional overnight stays will be required as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree is preferred. Experience may be substituted for education as determined relevant by the agency.
One year of livestock or market reporting experience preferred.
Good verbal and written skills are required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collect data.
Demonstrated experience of accurately inputting data into online computer systems.
Valid driver’s license
Compensation:
Hourly Pay: $16.00/Hour
