Job Description

This job allows you to get out of the office to work with electronics and electricity instead of spending all of your day behind a desk. The position also allows you to maintain and repair remote terminal units, transducers, and other system protection equipment. If you like working with electronics and staying abreast of the newest testing procedures, this job is for you.

This individual will perform the work associated with and including, but not limited to, the installation, testing, inspection, calibration, and repair of all system protection devices, transducers, and equipment (electro-mechanical and electronic relays, protective controls, switchboards, and other substation equipment) as related to Sunflower Electric Power Corporation’s and the Members’ electric transmission and distribution system.

Top Qualifications:

High school diploma.

Associate degree in industrial electrical, instrument and control, or electronics field or two years increasingly responsible system protection experience directly related to the installation and maintenance of electro-mechanical and electronic relays and control equipment utilized by electric utilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

EEI Testing

We administer selection tests for a variety of positions. The required tests have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor-owned electric utility companies. We strongly encourage potential employees to review all information, including the sample test brochures, and to use the available tests before taking the actual tests. Practice test can be utilized on Sunflower website.

Practice tests provide sample questions and detailed discussions of the correct answers. It’s important to take the practice tests as you would the actual one, with similar intensity and concentration. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer.
