Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems has an opening for a PRN CNA in our Geriatric Special Care Unit.
The Geriatric Special Care Unit of Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems offers a comprehensive program designed to meet the diverse mental health needs of older adults. A multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of nurses, social workers, and activity therapists work together to provide appropriate, high quality acute care for every patient. Each patient is monitored for physical problems which can be addressed while they are patients at the Special Care Unit. The Special Care Unit offers quality, cost-effective healthcare for patients with depression, anxiety, mild to moderate psychosis, dementia, self-care deficits and other acute psychiatric conditions.
Basic Functions: Demonstrates expertise in mental health promotion and maintenance of high quality comprehensive patient.
Job Relationships: Under the direction of the charge nurse; works cooperatively with all personnel and ancillary staff.
Qualifications: Must have at least a high school diploma or GED and preferably will have nurse’s aid certificate from certified school of vocational training. Must have at least one-year paid experience as a technician or nurse’s aid in health care setting. Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction. Must exhibit quality communication skills. Must be eligible to obtain a Kansas Drivers License. Must be eligible to qualify for CPR training.
Essential Functions: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time and long intervals of sitting. Frequently lifts 40-50 pounds, occasionally carries items weighing 20-35 pounds, occasionally pushing up to 200 pounds, also will frequently pull 40-50 pounds and occasionally 50+ pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range along with being able to hear Blood Pressure, etc. with the use of a stethoscope. Requires working under stressful conditions, including working with patients who may be combative, and working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires performing CPR.
