JOB SUMMARY:
• A Kangaroo Express Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager with the daily operations of a retail store and motivates sales associates to provide outstanding customer service in a “Fast, Friendly, and Clean” environment.
• The position oversees the store operation in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Additionally, the Assistant Store Manager provides top quality service and assistance to customers; coaches store employees and works with the Store Manager to maintain a safe, cost-effective and profitable store.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (partial list):
1. Customer Satisfaction: Provide and coach store employees to provide excellent customer service in a “Fast, Friendly, and Clean” manner to ensure the customer has a pleasant shopping experience.
2. Store Conditions: Maintain an awareness of overall store cleanliness and property conditions notifying the Store Manager of any equipment failure or maintenance/supply needs; and performing or directing store employees to perform a variety of general housekeeping duties.
3. Merchandising: Monitor and ensure that store product areas (including gasoline, merchandise and food service) are stocked, rotated and displayed to ensure freshness, appeal and easy customer access.
4. Sales Controls: Ensure all shift sales are completed in accordance with government regulations and Company policies and procedures by performing and coaching store employees.
5. Financial Controls: Keep accurate cash, sales, food cost, payroll and inventory control records and account for variances. Assist with or complete all appropriate daily paperwork required by performing the banking function and daily deposits as directed by the Store Manager. Follow vendor check-in procedures and accounts for quality and quantity of merchandise received during vendor deliveries.
6. Staffing Controls: Oversee the activities of store employees as directed by the Store Manager, coaching and training new employees to carry out their duties in accordance with Company operating, conduct and performance standards. Assist with counseling of employees; provide feedback to help employees improve performance and gives input on performance reviews.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (partial list):
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of industry experience or knowledge or applicable retail experience.
• Ability to analyze data and take corrective actions to support sales growth.
• Effective communication skills, including outstanding customer service orientation.
• Certificates & Licenses: Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
