Full-Time Emergency Dispatcher

Our Dispatchers are the lifeline for, not only the citizens of Ellis County, but Law Enforcement, Fire, & EMS personnel as well. They are responsible for making sure citizens get quick responses for the help they need by answering both emergency & non-emergency calls. This position is required to work in a fast paced environment where quick decisions are vital. The ability to multitask, enter data into the computer system, keep confidentiality & communicate effectively is essential.
This position works 12-hour shifts allowing employees 7 days off each 14 day period. Shift work is required. Aptitude tests & background investigations will be conducted.
Valid driver’s license required. High School diploma or GED required. Additional education or training preferred. Residency requirement is a 40 minute response time. Job offers contingent on pre-employment physical exam.
Compensation & Benefits
Full pay range: $30,489 – $47,237 annually plus additional overtime and holiday pay compensation. The City of Hays offers great benefits including family health insurance, paid time off, KPERS, longevity pay & holidays.
