Full-Time Diesel Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
Determines unit condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.
Corrects system deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems such as; engines, transmissions, differentials, electrical repairs, electronic diagnostic trouble shooting and repair, suspension and front end repair, brakes and wheel seals. DOT and periodic inspections, exhaust and fuel system repair.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting system tests, and downloads.
Maintains unit appearance by cleaning and washing.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operational instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; and making needed repairs.
Keeps shop area clean and free of clutter.
Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating services and repairs.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
Enhances service department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Tooling supply management, mechanical inspection tools, technical understanding, attention to detail, dependability, thoroughness, verbal communications, documentation skills, job knowledge, and quality performance.
Accepts responsibility for scheduled on call rotation for 24 hour service calls.
Responds to service repair calls in a prompt timely manner when designated for “on call status.”
Attendance and punctuality are essential job functions. Employees must arrive to work prior to the scheduled shift start time, while not taking unscheduled and unauthorized absences as determined by company and departmental guidelines.
